Garda Trentino enjoys a unique climate and position that make it very different from the surrounding areas. Here the Mediterranean climate and the Alpine world gather, giving birth to an unparalleled environmental diversity.
To protect and add value to the most worthful spots, several protected areas have been created over the last years. The Sarca River Park stretches along the whole riverbed, from the Adamello glaciers to Lake Garda, and includes Bosco Caproni, the Marocche in Dro and Monte Brione; Monte Baldo Local Nature Reserve covers a vast area of the northern sector of the Baldo mountain range and is remarkable for its exceptional biodiversity featuring a wealth of rare flower species; Ledro Alps Reserve extends from Lake Idro to Lake Garda and includes Alpo di Bondone, Mounts Tremalzo-Tombea, Bocca Casèt, Lake Ampola, the mountain ridges Pichea-Rocchetta and the small lakes of Soi.
This richness and variety have been internationally recognised even by UNESCO, that declares the area from Brenta Dolomites to Lake Tenno as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2016. This accolade is given to those areas where the conservation of biodiversity reconciles with the sustainable use of the natural resources in favour of the local communities, thanks to an appropriate management of the environment.
