Just a few hundred metres from Ballino, the south end borough of Fiavè and crossing point between the Giudicarie Esteriori and Lake Garda (Trentino’s side), there’s a spectacular natural jewel: the Rio Ruzza waterfall in the Sajant area, near the most southern town in the Giudicarie Esteriori. Surging at the foot of Monte Cogorna, at an altitude of 1000 metres, this majestic waterfall offers a unique spectacle. This year’s novelty is the via ferrata, recently installed, that allows easy access to the waterfall: the open access climbing route is suitable for all levels and allows to reach the core of this natural gem. Reaching the waterfall is very easy: from Ballino’s square, follow the signs and in just under half an hour, you will find yourself in front of a truly breath-taking scenery. After visiting the waterfall and climbing the via ferrata - if you choose to do so - we recommend heading north to reach Passo Ballino and return to the village square along the main road, Statale 421, to complete the circular route of this easy but captivating excursion.
